Week 6 - God’s Love Rejected
Theme:
Nobody is free of blame,
as long as there is inequality,
and human misery,
broken relationships,
for which I am partly responsible.
Without the experience of a love
which is far greater than my love,
life would be unbearable.
God’s Love for me goes beyond my own faults.
What I may wish to ask:
That I can repent and recognize,
that my faults have social consequences;
that I can find my place
in a world which is unfinished and imperfect
and that I don’t live my life
ignoring God and the people around me.

Within our darkest night
You kindle the fire that never dies away,
never dies away.

You kindle the fire that never dies away,
never dies away.

1 John 1, 5-2,2
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all.
No darknesss at all. Only light, love, compassion, mercy. That is how God is. It is from this light that God is looking at us, at me. With love: unconditional love for me just as I am, just as we are. I try to let this really get through to me.
·
If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
My little children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin; but if any one does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
The difference between the light of the love of God, how he looks at me and …. how I relate to people, in the past but also now, is sometimes so great. John invites me to bring everything that separates me from God’s light before Jesus.
My inability to love, my impatience, my anger, my self-centredness. I look at my own shadow: my own darkness, and I talk to Jesus about it.
·
and he is the expiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
Jesus looks at me, at us. His desire is that I should walk in the light. He beckons me away from my darkness towards the light. Towards a life of love and a capacity to forgive both others and also myself.
