Week 23 - The True Reality of the Messiah

Welcome in the Stanislas Chapel. We have all made our way here. What motivated me to come here?

God looks longingly at me. He is waiting for me. Can I let God in? Allow Him to come close?

Maybe I first ensure that I am sitting comfortably, but attentively, and I allow my breathing to become calm.

God is looking at me in a friendly way and full of love.

Theme: The true reality of the Messiah.

Jesus’ life is far from obvious: His reality is to stand up for a Kingdom, which is not of this world. But it takes shape in this world.

What I may wish to ask:

That I may be able to discover the human measure of what is being asked of me. What connects me in this to Jesus?

Music: Jésus le Christ. Taizé

Jésus le Christ, lumière intérieure,
ne laisse pas mes ténèbres me parler.

Jésus le Christ, lumière intérieure,
donne-moi d'accueillir ton amour.

Lord, Jesus Christ, Your light shines within us.

Let not my doubts and my darkness speak to me.

Lord, Jesus Christ, Your light shines within us.

Let my heart always welcome Your love.

Matthew 21, 10 – 15

And when He entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “Who is this?” And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee.”

I stand in the middle of the crowds and maybe I also ask myself: “Who is this man?” What do I think, what do I see and what do I experience in the middle of this scene?

*

And Jesus entered the temple of God and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer’; but you make it a den of robbers.”

Jesus is, apparently, angry. What could be the main reason for His anger?

I, too, am sometimes angry. What tends to make me angry?

*

And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and He healed them. But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant;

Jesus stands up for a world which is not of this world. He goes against the established order. What does Jesus demonstrate here? And also to me personally?

*

How can I make the reality of the Messiah visible in my own life? In my normal day to day life?

*

We have almost at the end of this meditation. What do I want to say to Jesus now? Has she shown me His true reality?
